FIBER AND MATERIAL INFO

Sherpa fleece is a heavyweight and fluffy knit fabric, napped with a sheep-like fluffy pile on one side and smooth knit fabric on the other side. It is named after the Sherpa people of Nepal, as the Sherpa fabric resembles the wool lined clothing worn by the tribe. However, contrary to what the Sherpa people wear, the fabric is not made of wool.

Tips to work with sherpa fabric:

- Avoid Ironing. It will crush the fluffy pile and you might even melt the fabric. If you need to apply fusible interfacing, use a pressing cloth.
- Your standard machine foot may have trouble sewing through multiple layers of fabric. A walking foot will allow your machine to pull the fabric evenly through the feed dogs, which will make it easier to sew this thick, fluffy fabric.
- Make sure your scissors are sharp and cut in one layer if it's too thick.
- Cut pattern pieces in the same direction to avoid difference in the nap.
- Use jersey or ballpoint needles and stretch stitches when sewing your garment.
- Use clips instead of pins - pins will hide in the nap and will be difficult to see them (and remove them).
- Sherpa fleece is known to shed a lot during the sewing process, so we recommed to finish all raw edges right after you cut them.

BRAND INFO

The vision of mind the MAKER is to design and produce fabric with care.
Fabric must be thought of as more than a fast consumer product. It should be thought of as product you buy and use with the people who made it, the environment, yourself and the overall imprint throughout the product life cycle in mind.

The collections are based on responsibly produced fibers such as GOTS® certified organic cotton and ECOVERO ™ Viscose, and range from from basic collections to more special weaves and knitted qualities, as well as printed collections.

The color scale is designed to match across all collections and qualities, which makes it easy, for example, to find matching rib for a sweater or fabric for trousers to match a viscose shirt.
