When Named Clothing releases a new collection, I almost always look at it and think; 'Hmm...not really for me'.
Then I wait a bit and watch Instagram for others to start making and sharing, and then I almost always after a while think; 'Well, now I'm just going to try". And then I almost always end up with a new piece of favorite clothing, and think; 'Wow! why on earth did I wait so long to make this'.

The FW17 collection was no exception from this, and actually Beryl was one of those I was really 'Hmmm...' about to start with. But now it has become a true Wow!.

I made a winterly everyday version of Beryl in a delicious wool/cotton blend with a bouclé-ish look.
It is knitted but quite firm and not too thick.

Beryl is great to use both as a dress, but also as an open cardigan, so I changed the pattern a bit and used a separable zipper, and left the dress open below the zipper. I moved the elastic in the waist 4 cm up according to my waist and I omitted the pockets.

For the neckline I used the fabric instead of rib, and I used G707 fusible interfacing to give it hold, but still allowing the fabric to stretch. I used the same for facings along the zipper to stabilize without fixating.

I made a size 36 with no adjustments except from the already mentioned with the zipper and placement of the elastic.

Beryl is highly recommended - both for a soft knit like this one, but also for something more firm and light - and it works very well in both woven and knitted fabric.
